No. Ask the assistant to add a character, a place or a piece of worldbuilding, or to update one after a plot change, and it does it for you. When it spots someone new in a scene who is not in your Story Bible yet, it tells you and adds them when you say yes. Bringing in a finished draft? Ask it to build your Story Bible from the manuscript and it proposes the characters, places and worldbuilding already in your chapters, in your own wording. Everything in the Story Bible goes into every scene it writes, so there is nothing to paste in.

Yes. Describe the story you want, such as a fantasy novel about a disgraced mapmaker, and the assistant proposes a story plan: a synopsis, chapter titles in order, a starting cast and places, and chapter one already written. It builds on any characters and worldbuilding you already have, and the whole plan arrives as one card you review before anything is added. Outlines and chapter beats can also live in Worldbuilding entries, which the assistant reads when it writes.

Yes. Import a DOCX, EPUB, TXT or Markdown file (a PDF comes in as plain text). Each chapter becomes its own document, with bold, italics, headings and lists kept, and chapter titles and word counts carried over. When you are done, export to DOCX, EPUB or PDF.

Only if you let it. In Chat, the default, a new scene, an edit or a new Story Bible entry arrives as a card you read first; apply it, and you can still undo it later from the same card. Turn on Full Access for a project and the assistant makes the changes itself, listing each one with its own Undo.

Yes, whether you want it to sound like you or want to try a genre voice before committing a chapter to it. Neutral, the default, leaves your voice untouched; Lean, Lyrical and Voice-Driven reshape it. You can add more styles from the Marketplace, such as romance, thriller and noir voices, or build your own from a sample of your writing. A style sets the tone, vocabulary, pacing and prose density of everything the AI writes.

Reader personas who read a chapter and send notes back in minutes, on structure, character, prose, worldbuilding and pacing. Each note is pinned to the passage it is about and most come with a concrete fix, and you can ask any reader to go deeper. Beta reads are on paid plans: 1 reader per run on Basic, 2 on Writer and 5 on Professional.

Yes. Co-work is made for friends writing a story together, co-authors sharing a book, or an editor working through your chapters. It puts you in the same draft in real time, with live cursors and presence, on every plan. It is in beta and uses no tokens. Your partner signs in with their own Genesis Writer account.

You own everything you write and everything you generate. Genesis Writer does not use your writing to train or fine-tune AI models, and under the paid API agreements we use, our AI providers do not either.
