Functional Storage (localStorage)

These store your preferences on your device to provide features you have asked for. Some are kept only in your browser; others may sync with your account so your settings follow you between devices. We limit this storage to what is necessary to operate the features you use.

• Theme Preference: Your selected color theme and visual settings (e.g., aurora animation, panel glow).
• Editor Settings: Panel states, Story Bible height, and project-level preferences.
• Tool Preferences: Recent tone presets, custom write prompts, enabled beta readers and plugins.
• Draft Auto-Saves: In-progress style, plugin, and character creation forms (auto-expire after 7 days).
• UI State & Preferences: Collapsed/expanded panels, dismissed info boxes and cookie notices, saved avatar configuration, navigation state, and (if you join the affiliate waitlist) the email you submitted.

We use only strictly-necessary cookies and the functional device storage required to deliver features you request; we do not use cookies that require prior consent under the EU/UK ePrivacy rules for advertising or analytics. If we introduce any non-essential cookies or tracking, we will ask for your consent first where the law requires it.

3. Third-Party Cookies

Genesis Writer does not use third-party advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or analytics services that track you across other websites. We do not sell, share, or trade cookie data with third parties for advertising purposes.

Some essential third-party services we rely on set their own cookies strictly to perform their function — for example, our authentication provider (Google Firebase) to keep you signed in, and our payment processor (Stripe) for checkout and fraud prevention. When you choose to sign in with Google, Google’s sign-in services also set cookies on Google’s own domains (such as accounts.google.com) to authenticate you. These are used solely for authentication, payments, or security — not for advertising or cross-site tracking.

5. Global Privacy Control

Genesis Writer does not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing for a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal to opt out of. If we ever adopt practices that would qualify as a sale or share under applicable state privacy laws, we will treat a GPC signal as a valid opt-out request.

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for regulatory reasons. We will post any updates on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification.
