Getting Started on Mobile
Access Genesis Writer from your phone, install it as an app, and learn the basics.
Last updated April 2026
Genesis Writer is fully responsive — the same account, the same projects, the same writing. Just open it in your phone's browser and everything adapts to your screen.
Accessing on Mobile
Open your phone's browser and navigate to Genesis Writer. Log in with the same account you use on desktop. Your projects, characters, writing styles, and everything else sync automatically — there's nothing to set up.
The interface detects your screen size and switches to a mobile-optimized layout. You'll see a bottom tab bar for navigation instead of the desktop sidebar.
Supported Browsers
Genesis Writer works in all modern mobile browsers:
- Safari on iOS 15+
- Chrome on Android and iOS
- Firefox on Android
- Samsung Internet on Samsung devices
For the best experience, we recommend using Safari on iPhone or Chrome on Android — these are the most thoroughly tested.
Install as an App
You can add Genesis Writer to your home screen for an app-like experience. This gives you a full-screen view without browser chrome, faster loading, and easy access from your home screen.
On iPhone (Safari):
- Open Genesis Writer in Safari
- Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up)
- Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen
- Tap Add to confirm
On Android (Chrome):
- Open Genesis Writer in Chrome
- Tap the three-dot menu in the top right
- Tap Add to Home screen or Install app
- Tap Install to confirm
The Mobile Layout
The mobile experience is organized around two main areas:
- The Hub — your home base. Manage projects, browse the marketplace, and access settings. Navigate between sections using the bottom tab bar.
- The Writer — opens when you tap a project. Write and edit drafts, manage your story bible (characters, locations, worldbuilding), and use AI tools.
Both areas are covered in detail in the following articles.
Touch Gestures
The mobile experience supports several touch gestures:
- Swipe between tabs — in the writer, swipe left or right to switch between Draft, Character, Location, and Worldbuilding tabs.
- Long press — long press on a node card to move it to trash.
- Tap to dismiss — tap outside any popup or bottom sheet to close it.
- Pull to scroll — standard scrolling in all lists and editors.
