Overview
The Plugin Marketplace is where Genesis Writer's community shares custom AI plugins. Browse plugins built by other writers, add them to your library with one click, and use them alongside the built-in plugins to transform your prose.
If you've created a custom plugin that you think other writers would find useful, you can publish it to the marketplace for the community to discover.
Browsing Plugins
Access the marketplace from the Plugins page or through the main navigation. You'll see a grid of plugin cards organized by category, with search and filtering options at the top.
Use the search bar to find plugins by name or keyword. You can also filter by category to narrow results to a specific type of transformation. The marketplace updates in real time as new plugins are published by the community.
Plugin Categories
Every plugin belongs to one of 9 categories, making it easy to find the right tool for the job:
| Category | What It Covers |
|---|---|
| Narrative & Plot | Story structure, plot logic, pacing, POV shifts, and narrative technique. |
| Character Development | Dialogue improvement, character voice, motivation, and personality consistency. |
| Editing & Revision | Copy editing, proofreading, grammar fixes, and prose polish. |
| Scene Enhancement | Sensory details, atmosphere, tension, imagery, and show-vs-tell improvements. |
| Worldbuilding | Setting details, world consistency, history, and environmental description. |
| Analysis & Feedback | Manuscript analysis, readability scoring, and structural feedback. |
| Marketing | Blurbs, query letters, synopses, and promotional copy. |
| Genre-Specific | Transformations tailored to specific genres and their conventions. |
| Multi-Lingual | Translation, bilingual writing support, and cross-language transformations. |
Plugin Cards
Each plugin in the marketplace is displayed as a card showing key information at a glance:
- Name — the plugin's title.
- Tagline — a short description of what it does.
- Icon — a visual identifier for the plugin.
- Category — which of the 9 categories it belongs to.
- Creator — who built the plugin.
- Rating — community rating based on user feedback.
- Usage count — how many times the plugin has been used.
Click on any card to open the plugin's detail sheet, where you can read the full description, see the category and creator info, and add it to your library.
Trying & Adding Plugins
You can try a plugin before adding it to your library. From the plugin detail sheet, use the try option to run it on selected text in your current draft. This lets you evaluate the plugin's quality without committing to it.
If you like what you see, click Add to Library. The plugin then appears in your plugin list alongside the built-in tools, ready to use on any project. You can remove plugins from your library at any time.
Publishing Your Plugins
To publish a plugin to the marketplace, you need a Writer+ plan or higher. When creating a plugin, set the visibility to Public in the Publish step.
Before publishing, make sure your plugin:
- Has a clear, descriptive name and tagline so writers know what it does.
- Includes a detailed description explaining when and how to use it.
- Has been tested on representative text samples.
- Is assigned to the correct category so it appears in the right filters.
Creator Attribution
Every published plugin displays creator attribution. Your display name is shown on the plugin card and detail sheet, so other writers know who built the tool they're using.
This attribution is automatic and cannot be removed. It gives credit where it's due and helps build your reputation as a plugin creator in the community.
Sorting & Discovery
The marketplace offers three sorting options to help you find the right plugins:
- Popular — sorted by usage count. Shows the most-used plugins first.
- Newest — sorted by publication date. Discover the latest community creations.
- Trending — sorted by recent activity. Plugins gaining traction right now.
Combine sorting with category filters and search to find exactly what you need. The marketplace is also accessible from the broader Genesis Writer Marketplace, which includes styles, characters, and beta readers alongside plugins.
